Surprise - Coup supporters in Congress don't want to investigate the coup (and police tyranny isn't over yet either)

In recent news, the hope for an actual Congressional Commission to investigate the January 6th Capitol Coup is basically dead.

More to the point, 147 Republican politicians (over 50% of the party) voted in favor of a coup and are still in Congress. ...Why are Democrats attempting to be "bipartisan" with people who have conspired and committed the highest crimes possible against the state? The Constitution clearly states the punishment for treason is death.

Now, because we have allowed these 147 Republican politicians to continue making our laws with zero punishment, OF COURSE they aren't going to support a "bipartisan" commission to sincerely investigate the fact that their party--in all 3 branches of government--helped organize a coup.

As I have kept saying, if Democrats refuse to hold treasonous members of the government accountable for their role in organizing and inciting the Capitol Coup, then the Democrats are helping Republicans cover up their crimes and are just as complicit in the whole affair.

Any sane person could have told you that trying to get the Republican party on board to investigate their own coup attempt--when a majority of the party supported it and continues to support insurrectionary tactics to hold on to power--would be doomed to fail:

"Back in February, when the idea of a bipartisan commission to study the events of January 6 first arose, it was the opinion around this shebeen that the whole idea was as doomed as Caesar in the Senate, because the Republicans’ complicity in those events would make the “bipartisan” element of any proposed bipartisan commission at best a burlesque, and at worst a tragedy."

https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a36165473/january-6-reckoning-republicans/

Worse than the January 6th Commission being shot down is the fact that barely any investigation has been done thus far in Congress, despite the fact that a non-treasonous majority now controls both the House and Senate:

"In the meantime, none of the Democrat-led House panels investigating aspects of the insurrection has made demonstrable headway in documenting contributing factors and assigning blame for the abundant failures that allowed the Capitol to be overrun. None, aside from the House Appropriations Committee, has held hearings with any current or former law enforcement or military officials responsible for coordinating security in D.C. ahead of the pro-Trump “Stop the Steal” rally that set off the riot on Jan. 6 and for then reinforcing the Capitol once it was overrun.

Last week, one influential Republican decried the approach taken thus far.

“We’ve skipped a step,” Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), the House Administration Committee’s ranking minority-party member, complained Thursday as the panel spoke to Capitol Police Inspector General Michael Bolton in the panel’s first public hearing into the events surrounding the insurrection. “This committee has not heard from anybody involved in the decision-making process.”

Other House panels tasked to investigate the riot have not held hearings with any government officials at all, relying instead on the testimony of outside academics and advocates."

Despite the Senate being split 50-50 along party lines, it is apparently actually doing investigations, while the House (which contains a clear Democratic party majority) isn't doing much:

"The halting start in the House is perhaps more glaring when compared to the pace of activity in the courts and in other corners of the Capitol.

On Friday, the Justice Department announced it had secured its first guilty plea in cases brought over the Capitol breach, from a founding member of the far-right Oath Keepers group who also agreed to cooperate with investigators against others. Prosecutors have charged more than 400 people in connection with the attack.

In the Senate, a two-panel investigation has already held public hearings with leading police, National Guard and Justice Department officials, and the sergeants at arms responsible for riot-response plans. The Senate Rules and Homeland Security committees are expected to release a report of their findings and conclusions by next month.

That joint probe continues to function harmoniously despite simmering tension between leading Democrats and Republicans over scheduling additional witness testimony, particularly from relevant political and military officials who were at the Pentagon on Jan. 6."

In case you need a refresher on what happened during the Capitol Coup and just how severe it was, see the posts below. Insurrectionists were directed by the President. Insurrectionists were minutes away from murdering politicians. Insurrectionists murdered a police officer and severely injured countless more. Multiple Republican politicians have been observed as giving "reconnaissance tours" to individuals the day before the insurrection and multiple Republican politicians worked directly with riot-organizers to give them insider information. Then, hours after the insurrection ended, a majority of Republican politicians voted in favor of the coup by voting to overturn the results of the election.

https://authenticamericandream.blogspot.com/2021/01/trumps-insurrection-was-inside-job.html

And. These. Politicians. Faced. No. Punishment. They are still making our laws. The Democrat party is acting like their hands are tied and are trying to negotiate with literal terrorists for a "compromise" that works for both of them. Meanwhile the Republican party is planning their next coup attempt--since they faced zero repercussions and have openly embraced the strategy of insurrection.

The ineptitude of the Democrat party is mind-boggling.

***

It has been obvious from the beginning that the Capitol Coup was an inside job.

This was fully confirmed in early March when Trump State Department employee Federico G. Klein (who held a Top Secret security clearance!) was arrested for his participation in the coup. I have been meaning to write an article on Klein's arrest, given the extreme significance of his involvement in the coup and also the fact that investigations were at one point proceeding rapidly enough to arrest him, but I have not had an opportunity.

Now, Pelosi has already given in to pressure from Republicans and is willing to back their plan for a "balanced" commission--where half of the investigators were coup participants. Republicans even want to change the main scope of the January 6th Commission so that it doesn't even primarily focus on the January 6th Coup! Apparently Pelosi hasn't agreed to change the scope of the investigation yet, but what hope do we have that this Commission will amount to anything when she is already willing to let A PARTY WHICH OPENLY CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE CAPITOL COUP AND FUTURE INSURRECTION investigate themselves???

What we need is an actual Crimes Commission to investigate every single last member of Congress who gave aid and comfort to terrorists during the Capitol Coup, and lock them up. Anything less than a Crimes Commission where POLITICIANS WHO COMMITTED TREASON face legal punishment (not merely expulsion from Congress, but life in prison/execution) means that the Democratic party is actively helping the Republican party cover up their crimes and setting the stage for their next coup.

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is renewing her push for a bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, floating a new proposal to Republicans that would evenly split the panel’s membership between the two parties.

Pelosi first proposed a commission in February that would have had four Republicans and seven Democrats to “conduct an investigation of the relevant facts and circumstances relating to the domestic terrorist attack on the Capitol.” Republicans rejected it as inadequate.

[...]

It’s unclear if the two sides will ever agree. Some Republicans allied with Trump have downplayed the severity of the insurrection and think the probe should look more broadly at unrest in the country. It’s a symptom not just of the partisan tensions that run high in Congress, but of a legislative branch reeling from the Trump era, with lawmakers unable to find common ground, or a common set of facts, even after a violent assault on their institution.

[...]

The Republicans said the investigation should focus not just on what led to the Jan. 6 insurrection but also on violence in the summer of 2020 during protests over police brutality — a touchstone among GOP voters and an idea that Democrats say is a distraction from the real causes of the violent attack.

On Tuesday, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said he’d had no discussions with Pelosi. He said the commission needed to have a partisan balance but also the scope of the investigation needed to be broader than just the insurrection.

“We’ve also had a number of violent disturbances around the country last year, and I think we ought to look at this in a broader scope and with a totally balanced 9/11 style commission,” McConnell told reporters.

[...]

McCarthy’s office said in a statement that “hopefully the Speaker has addressed our basic concerns of equal representation and subpoena authority” for Republicans on the panel.

Pelosi has said repeatedly that she will not concede to the Republican demands on the scope.

“It’s not about examining Black Lives Matter,” Pelosi said last week. “It’s about what happened on Jan. 6 and how we can prevent it from happening again.”"

Some in the mainstream media are at least willing to state the obvious about the ongoing Republican party sabotage of the government:

"We Can't Be Held Hostage to a Political Party That Has Lost Its Mind

We need to reckon with January 6 whether or not Republicans are prepared to participate.

[...]

Our politics can never truly move forward on anything until there is a final and complete reckoning of the only organized mob coup d’etat in the country’s history. The longer that reckoning is delayed, the harder it’s going to be for the country and its politicians to recover public confidence in the government’s institutions, without which self-government itself is a limping, spavined farce. If the Democratic congressional majorities have to go it alone, then they should. If Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice needs to be the venue for that reckoning, then so be it. It’s too important to be hostage to a party that has lost its mind, and that’s funding its operation on the public’s mania."

https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a36165473/january-6-reckoning-republicans/

Remember when mainstream news outlets would publish tons of stories and generate tons of outrage over things as insignificant as every Trump Tweet? Now we a much more juicy and insane story--a government being held hostage by a party which just attempted to overthrow the government in a bloody coup. A party which remains openly supportive of insurrection.

Why aren't more media outlets shouting the obvious statements in the quoted paragraph above? Perhaps it's because we would be forced to confront the fact that democracy has always just been tyranny of the majority and is fundamentally incapable of securing liberty and justice for all. It is fundamentally incapable of fairly governing a nation, incapable of promoting the general welfare, incapable of even implementing the most basic of so-called "rights" and bureaucratic procedures explicitly stated in the Constitution.

Don't believe me? If slavery and Jim Crow weren't enough to convince you--ONE OF THE TWO MAJOR POLITICAL PARTIES ORGANIZED A BLOODY COUP. 147 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS VOTED IN FAVOR OF A COUP, FACED NO PUNISHMENT, AND ARE STILL IN CONGRESS MAKING OUR LAWS. TERRORISTS ARE MAKING OUR LAWS. DEMOCRATS ARE ALLOWING TERRORISTS TO HOLD OUR NATION HOSTAGE AND MAKE OUR LAWS.

And the voters love it. Republican voters and politicians are still head-over-heels for Trump and it isn't changing any time soon.

"Three months after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, the Republican Party still won’t fully renounce it. In Congress, Republicans are opposing an investigation of the attack unless other incidents are included. On Friday, sponsors of a conference at former President Donald Trump’s Miami resort proudly displayed photos of the crowd that had gathered before the attack. On Saturday, Republican donors cheered as Trump boasted about the Jan. 6 crowd and complained that his allies should have fought harder to prevent the certification of his defeat.

In recent weeks, numerous Republican lawmakers have belittled the attack, defended the mob that precipitated it (Sen. Ron Johnson called them “people that love this country”), voted against a resolution condemning it, or accused liberals of overreacting to it. In February, at the Conservative Political Action Conference, speakers blamed a “rigged election” for provoking the rioters. But the sickness goes deeper. The Republican base is thoroughly infected with sympathies for the insurrection.

In polls taken shortly after Jan. 6, roughly 15 percent of Republicans openly endorsed the rebellion. They did so even when survey questions explicitly called it an “attack,” “storming,” and “taking over” the Capitol. But other questions found broader support. Twenty-three percent of Republicans agreed that “in America today … it can be acceptable for people to use force or violence to try to achieve political goals.” Forty-two percent, when asked about the people who “took over” the Capitol, said they were “mostly peaceful.” Forty-five percent rejected the notion that “those who participated in the storming of the Capitol” were “criminals.” Instead, this half of the Republican base chose an alternative description of the invaders: “They went too far, but they had a point.” Fifty-one percent of Republicans said the party’s leaders “did not go far enough” on Jan. 6 to overturn the election. Only 27 percent called the attack terrorism, and only 19 percent called it a coup attempt.

These sentiments don’t seem to have waned. Since January, the share of Republicans who insist that President Joe Biden did not “legitimately win the election,” nearly 80 percent of the GOP, has hardly budged. Nearly two-thirds of Republicans say Trump won the election, and nearly 30 percent say they’ll “never accept” Biden as president. Two weeks ago, by a two-to-one ratio, Republicans reaffirmed their view that the election was “stolen” from Trump. Last week, 70 percent said there had been enough fraud to change the election’s outcome."

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2021/04/republican-party-sympathize-capitol-insurrection.html

Right now, the Arizona state Republican party is trying to recount the votes in the 2020 election. This action is purely symbolic, in order to demonstrate their continued commitment to the Republican party's embrace of coup attempts. Even if Arizona were to turn red, Biden would still win. Besides, the courts have already settled all election-related challenges brought by Trumpists. (Additionally, by suggesting the results of the election were illegitimate, these politicians are suggesting their seats are illegitimate, since they were voted in via the results of the election...)

Recall that Arizona Republicans were at the epicenter of organizing the Capitol Coup. The Arizona Proud Boys were the group who spearheaded the breach of the Capitol itself, and Arizona Representatives Gosar and Biggs worked directly with Ali Alexander to organize details of the coup, including its timing.

"The state senate-ordered election audit started last Friday and is being carried out by a Florida-based security company called Cyber Ninjas, which has no election experience.

Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan is overseeing the election audit, despite spreading a bizarre conspiracy theory that a company tied to long-dead Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez rigged voting machines against former President Donald Trump in November (Cyber Ninjas did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Forbes).

[...]

There are also concerns about the privacy of ballots, with Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Daniel Martin saying he was "not yet persuaded" privacy was being protected during a hearing Tuesday involving a lawsuit from the state Democratic Party seeking to block the audit.

[...]

Ballots are only being counted from Maricopa County—by far the most populated county in the state, and home to Phoenix and its sprawling suburbs. They're also only looking at the results in the presidential election and the U.S. Senate race, both of which were won by Democrats.

The recount is being driven by Trump's false claims that widespread voter fraud cost him winning a second term as president. But a recount of around 8,000 ballots after Election Day in Arizona found no evidence to back up Trump's claim, nor did recounts in other states. Still, Trump said he's monitoring the recount in Arizona and predicts "the results will be startling!""

Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy is now actively defending Trump for his role in inciting the insurrection, even though on the day of the insurrection itself he pleaded with Trump to call it off and subsequently blamed Trump for inciting it.

"McCarthy initially said Trump “bears responsibility” for the riot and admitted the then-president was too slow to respond.

“He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding,” McCarthy said a week after the insurrection.

But on Sunday, he changed his tune completely, telling Fox News that Trump promised to help stop the violent attack on the Capitol carried out by his supporters.

“And that’s what he did,” McCarthy said. “He put a video out later.”

Trump waited hours to release the video, eventually telling the rioters “we love you” as he asked them to go home.

On Sunday, McCarthy wouldn’t answer a question about a report claiming his conversation with Trump during the riot didn’t go nearly as well as he indicated.

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.) said McCarthy told her that when he asked Trump to stop the attack, the then-president replied: “Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are.”"

Day after day, the Republican party reaffirms their commitment to the Capitol Coup and the strategy of organizing insurrections and coups to hold on to power at all costs. And, meanwhile, the Democratic party is trying to negotiate with terrorists who tried to murder them! These are not "good faith" negotiations. The Democrat party is trying to work with terrorists and trying to help them cover up their crimes, thereby enabling them to organize insurrections and coups in the future. This is the opposite of "bipartisanship" and good faith...

***

Given the fact that the Republican party is openly insurrectionary and will attempt a coup again in the future, given the fact that the Democratic party is legalizing all the Trump administration and Republican party's crimes by refusing to hold them accountable, given the fact that 147 Congress members who voted in favor of a coup faced no consequences and continue making our laws, given the fact that White Supremacist police and non-police can murder us while we lay in bed and get away with it, and much, much more, LEFTISTS AND "NON-WHITE" AMERICANS NEED TO BEGIN ARMING THEMSELVES IMMEDIATELY.

When one of the major political parties is openly insurrectionary and came within minutes of seizing the government on their latest coup attempt, we are not safe. When the other major political party refuses to hold these criminals responsible and thereby ensures they will repeat their tactics in the future, we are not safe. When police can murder citizens in their bed with no consequences, we are not safe.

The stated goal of far-right groups like QAnon were a complete Soviet-style purge of all left-wing Americans once Trump gave the signal to begin "The Storm". The stated goal of many White Supremacist groups has for decades been the "Day of the Rope" where all "non-whites" and "whites" who stand in the way are murdered. That is not fear mongering or exaggeration, that's genuinely what millions of people desire--and they came close to setting it in motion.

And even without those doomsday scenarios, tyrannical police can just murder us and get away with it unless faced with massive sustained ideological protests and unideological rage-induced rioting that cannot be quelled unless something is done. Meanwhile, the Democrat party welcomes the "sacrifice" of our lives without bothering to do anything to fix the corrupt cancer that is killing our nation!!! How many more of us will be condemned as blood sacrifices by our politicians until they bother to pass laws throwing out the rotten system that enables these sorts of things? For the love of god, these politicians were within a literal minute of being murdered by insurrectionists who were directly aided by their colleagues and even that is not an enough of an impetus for them to do something--anything--to set our nation on a better course?

Attorney General Garland recently announced a probe into the Minneapolis police force and Louisville police force (who killed Breonna Taylor) but how many times have we heard similar things, only to get no substantial results?

...And reforming the Minneapolis police won't do anything to address the corruption in places like Chicago, where police recently murdered unarmed 13-year-old Adam Toledo. The prosecutor for the case even lied and said he was holding a gun, despite the video of the incident clearly showing he did not have one! Breonna Taylor was murdered over a year ago and her killers may never even face a murder trial. How many other victims never received justice?

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison: "I would not call today's verdict justice, however—because justice implies restoration. But it is accountability."
— ABC News (@ABC) April 20, 2021

https://twitter.com/ABC/status/1384623239260000258

Chauvin's guilty verdict and Garland's Minneapolis probe are only the first steps out of 10,000 more that need to be done before actual justice can result. Right-wing media is already painting Chauvin as a martyr and the victim of an unfair judicial system. (Wtf, more unfair than being executed without trial for the alleged crime of using a counterfeit 20 dollar bill?)

If we act like the battle is now over, like victory has been achieved, and then tune out, our complacency will merely pave the way for the next Chauvin to face no consequences.

***

Turning our attention back to the danger of insurrectionary far-right militias for a moment, left-wing Americans are dramatically outgunned compared to right-wingers in the US. Worse, "non-white" Americans are even more dramatically outgunned compared to "whites". We need to begin arming ourselves (legally), training, and organizing community solidarity groups so we can defend ourselves and our communities against tyranny now and in the future.

Surprisingly, some politicians appear to be heading in the correct direction, but are far from reaching a satisfactory position. Breaking curfew to hold up cardboard signs means nothing when police can murder us for no reason and when police give aid and comfort to rightists who go out to hunt protestors (e.g. Rittenhouse) and even allow heavily-armed far-right militias to set up weapons overlooking left-wing protestors. What good are cardboard signs after the damage has already been done, just to rinse and repeat every time we let something like this happen?

"Rep. Maxine Waters on Saturday night called for protesters to "stay on the street" and "get more confrontational" if former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is acquitted in the killing of George Floyd.

[...]

"We've got to stay in the street and demand justice," Waters said to reporters, according to video posted on social media.

"We're looking for a guilty verdict and we're looking to see if all of the talk that took place and has been taking place after they saw what happened to George Floyd. If nothing does not happen, then we know that we got to not only stay in the street, but we have got to fight for justice," she added.

Asked what protesters should do if there is no guilty verdict, Waters said protests should continue. "We got to stay on the street. And we've got to get more active, we've got to get more confrontational. We've got to make sure that they know that we mean business," she said.

Asked about the curfew put in place, Waters said, "I don't think anything about curfew. Curfew means I want you all to stop talking. I want you to stop meeting. I want you to stop gathering. I don't agree with that.""

https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/19/politics/maxine-waters-derek-chauvin-trial/index.html

Cell phone video from a 17-year-old community member was critical in convicting Chauvin. But that didn't stop Floyd from being murdered. If the community had armed patrols (who carried weapons in compliance with the law), could Floyd still be alive? During the Counterculture era, the Black Panthers and other groups created (100% legal) armed community patrols in response to police tyranny, causing safety to rise as police thought twice about murdering citizens. Recall--by law you are allowed to use lethal force to protect someone else's life from being unlawfully taken!

***

It's been 4 months since the Capitol Coup. That means Republicans and far-right militias have already had 4 months to examine what went wrong and to plan their next moves. The clock is ticking down until they attempt something again, because the Republican party has continued to reaffirm its support for insurrectionary tactics and the Democratic party has refused to uphold the laws to hold them accountable for their crimes. We have to prepare to defend ourselves and our communities from the tyranny that will inevitably unfold in the future.

Although it might seem like life has somewhat gone back to normal now the media has calmed down from their Trump mania now that Biden is in office, things haven't "gone back to normal" when 147 law makers who are still serving in Congress voted to overthrow the government. Things can't just "go back to normal" when one of the major political parties in our nation is openly supportive of insurrection and coups to hold on to power, and when the other major political party refuses to hold them accountable for their treason.

We can't allow ourselves to be placated by Chauvin's guilty verdict when Breonna Taylor, Adam Toledo, and thousands of others may never get justice--and when thousands of more victims will inevitably be created in the future, since no changes have been made to address the root of all the injustice. We must (legally) arm ourselves, train, and prepare to defend ourselves and our communities from continued far-right terrorism.

It seems like every lifetime, we have to go through this same cycle...

Resist Georgia's new, new Jim Crow!

In recent news, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed an extreme voter suppression law which bans people from giving water to voters waiting in line. That part of the law has been making headlines, but it's actually much worse than that. This law allows the (Republican-controlled) Georgia legislature to have control over certifying the state's elections, increases their ability to change voting rules, and even allows the state legislature to remove local-level election officials and delay certification at the last moment.

"The new law basically codifies Trump’s grievances against Republican officials in the state who resisted his efforts to overturn the election there. You’ll recall that Georgia’s current Secretary of State, Brad Raffensberger, became the target of Trump’s fury when he deflected pressure from the former president to “find” enough votes to reverse his loss in the state. The new law strips the secretary of state, Georgia’s top elections official, of his seat and his role as chair of the state election board, and endows the state legislature with the power to fill three of that board’s five seats — essentially giving the legislature control over the certification of elections and voting rules in the state. The new law also empowers the state election board to suspend or replace local election officials and delay certification, making it potentially easier for them to meddle with results."
https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/georgia-voting-bill-brian-kemp-voter-suppression-1147493/

The part about banning handing out water to voters highlights how extremely unethical the law is and will also be an easy way to get people riled up to defy and protest this unjust and Unconstitutional law, but Republicans want to distract us so we stop just short of realizing the true intent of the law.

"The measure was signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp, a Republican, on Thursday evening. “Significant reforms to our state elections were needed. There’s no doubt there were many alarming issues with how the election was handled, and those problems, understandably, led to a crisis of confidence,” Kemp said during prepared remarks shortly after signing the bill.
[...]
It requires voters to submit ID information with both an absentee ballot request and the ballot itself. It limits the use of absentee ballot drop boxes, allows for unlimited challenges to a voter’s qualifications, cuts the runoff election period from nine to four weeks, and significantly shortens the amount of time voters have to request an absentee ballot.
[...]
The legislation also empowers the state legislature, currently dominated by Republicans, to appoint a majority of members on the five-person state election board. That provision would strip Georgia’s secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, a Republican who stood up to Trump after the election, from his current role as chairman of the board. The bill creates a mechanism for the board to strip local election boards of their power.

Gloria Butler, a Democratic state senator, said the bill would make it harder to vote, especially for poor and disabled people. “We are witnessing a massive and unabashed assault on voting rights unlike anything we’ve seen since the Jim Crow era,” she said just before the bill passed.
[...]
Protesters outside the state Capitol called the bill “Jim Crow 2.0”, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
[...]
They offered little substantive justification for why the measure was necessary after an election in which there was record turnout, and in which multiple recounts found no evidence of fraud. Instead, they said the bill was necessary to preserve voter confidence.

The nearly 100-page measure was only formally unveiled last week, when it was abruptly inserted into another two-page bill. While the legislation includes several of the measures lawmakers debated, it included some new ideas that had not been fully debated. Democrats and voting activists have accused Republicans of trying to ram through a bill without fully vetting it.

Democrats and voting rights groups are expected to file lawsuits challenging the measure."

To make clear the symbolism behind signing the bill, Kemp signed it under a portrait of a slave plantation, while "black" Georgia state Representative Park Cannon was arrested for simply knocking on the door while he was signing the bill behind closed doors.

Oh, and Georgia is the last state to still fly the flag of an enemy nation.

...And how did Kemp become Governor? In 2018 Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp was in charge of his state's voter rolls while running for Governor--a massive conflict of interest. Not surprisingly, over 340,000 Georgians had their voter registration improperly cancelled under Kemp leading up to the election. Kemp narrowly beat Stacey Abrams by less than 55,000 votes in the election for Governor.

Stacey Abrams' tireless work during the 2020 election was able to turn Georgia blue in the 2020 Presidential vote as well as deliver both critical Senate seats to the blue team. In response to this surprising outcome, Republicans in Georgia and the rest of the US introduced over 100 bills to suppress voters--and that was only within the first two months of 2021!

Republicans even had the nerve to argue in front of the Supreme Court that they needed to suppress voters because that's the only way Republicans could win elections:

"Arizona GOP lawyer tells Supreme Court the party needs certain voting restrictions to compete with Democrats

The Supreme Court on Tuesday heard oral arguments by Arizona Republicans in defense of two voting restrictions they are looking to keep intact. At one point, Justice Amy Coney Barrett asked Michael Carvin, a lawyer representing the Arizona GOP, what the party's interest in maintaining the policy of discarding ballots cast at the wrong precinct was. Carvin answered, without hesitation, that removing the rule would prevent Republicans from competing in the state.

"It puts us at a competitive disadvantage relative to Democrats," he told Barrett. "Politics is a zero sum game. Every extra vote that they get through unlawful interpretations of Section 2 hurts us. It's the difference between winning an election 50-49 and losing an election."
"
https://news.yahoo.com/arizona-gop-lawyer-tells-supreme-200813978.html

This is a sentiment Kemp and many other rightists have echoed:
"Brian Kemp, Georgia Secretary of State and the Republican nominee for Georgia governor, expressed at a ticketed campaign event that his Democratic opponent Stacey Abrams’ voter turnout operation “continues to concern us, especially if everybody uses and exercises their right to vote,” according to audio obtained by Rolling Stone."

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/brian-kemp-leaked-audio-georgia-voting-745711/

I think the symbolism of signing the bill in front of a slave plantation tells us all we need to know about the intentions of Republicans who supported the bill..

Mississippi recently removed the Confederate flag from their state flag, signalling they are at least willing to consider turning over a new leaf and beginning the healing process from the legacy of slavery and the racist culture of Dixie. Meanwhile, Georgia is doubling down on its White Supremacy.

View the following links for more information on the Callaway Plantation in the painting:

https://twitter.com/Will_Bunch/status/1375434696671256581

https://www.inquirer.com/opinion/georgia-governor-brian-kemp-painting-slave-plantation-20210326.html

"The promotional sites gloss over the fact that by the time of the Civil War, the Callaway Plantation only thrived because of the back-breaking labor of more than 100 slaves who were held in cruel human bondage.

The harsh reality of life for slaves in the era of the Callaway Plantation is captured in this oral-history "slave narrative" of Mariah Callaway, a woman who was born into slavery on the plantation in 1852. In her account, she notes that "...[T]here were some slaves who were unruly; so the master built a house off to itself and called it the Willis jail. Here he would keep those whom he had to punish. I have known some slaves to run away on other plantations and the hounds would bite plugs out of their legs.”"

Trump and 147 Republican members of Congress attempted to obstruct the counting of electoral votes by planning and carrying out an insurrection, murdering a police officer and wounding countless more in the process. The terrorists they incited chanted "Hang Mike Pence" and some carried zip tie handcuffs to take members of Congress hostage. So far, these politicians who participated in a bloody coup have faced no punishment and continue making laws for the nation... Meanwhile, Representative Park Cannon gets arrested immediately for calmly knocking on a door.

"We will not live in fear and we will not be controlled," Cannon wrote. "We have a right to our future and a right to our freedom."

Georgia U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock, a Democrat, visited Cannon in jail and contrasted her arrest with the treatment of Trump supporters who led a deadly siege on the U.S. Capitol in January to disrupt the counting of electoral votes.

"I want to know what makes her actions so dangerous, and the actions of those who were trying to undermine an actual election so benign in the minds of some politicians," Warnock told reporters. "She did not deserve this."

"Cannon faces two felony charges -- felony obstruction and preventing or disrupting general assembly session, according to an arrest affidavit seen by CNN. The affidavit states that Cannon was charged with disrupting General Assembly session because she "knowingly and intentionally did by knocking the governor's door during session of singing [sic] a bill."

The arrest affidavit for the felony obstruction charge said she "did knowingly and willfully hinder Officer E. Dorval and Officer G. Sanchez of the Capitol PD, a law enforcement officer in the lawful discharge or the officer's official duties by Use of Threats of Violence, violence to the person of said officer by stomping on LT Langford foot three times during the apprehension and as she was being escorted out of the property. Now, let's look at the actual law itself, to show that it is in fact not hyperbole that it forbids handing out water to citizens trying to vote.

Section 33.

(a)  No person shall solicit votes in any manner or by any means or method, nor shall any person distribute or display any campaign material, nor shall any person give, offer to give, or participate in the giving of any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink, to an elector...

(1)  Within 150 feet of the outer edge of any building within which a polling place is established;
(2)  Within any polling place; or
(3)  Within 25 feet of any voter standing in line to vote at any polling place.

(e)  This Code section shall not be construed to prohibit...from making available self-service water from an unattended receptacle to an elector waiting in line to vote.

Considering that voters in predominately "black" districts are disenfranchised by having considerably fewer polling places available than in predominately "white" districts, thereby facing hours of waiting in line, the racist intent of this soulless law cannot be hidden. Ever since 2013, when the Supreme Court weakened the Voting Rights Act of 1965, Jim Crow-style voting laws in Dixie states have come roaring back.

"This country has a long history of disenfranchising and suppressing the votes of people of color, particularly in the South. But in 2013 the voter suppression efforts of yesteryear came roaring back. That's when the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Those provisions had stopped states with histories of voter suppression from changing their election laws without an okay from the federal government.

Let's take a look at how that shameful decision has played out over the years, shall we?

Today's voter suppression often takes the form of purging eligible voters from the rolls, cutting back early and absentee voting, closing polling places, and using strict voter ID requirements – disenfranchising voters of color at every turn.

Voter roll purges have become increasingly common.

Officials purged nearly 4 million more names between 2014 and 2016 than between 2006 and 2008 — a 33 percent increase. Officials in states that used to be under federal oversight purged voters from the rolls at a rate 40 percent higher than those in states with no history of voter suppression.

As it turns out, Chief Justice John Roberts was dead wrong when he argued "things have changed dramatically" in the South.

Election officials in Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia have all conducted illegal voter roll purges. In Virginia in 2013, nearly 39,000 voters were removed from the rolls when state officials relied on a faulty database – removing voters who had supposedly moved out of the state.

Even if you make it past a voter roll purge, you may get stuck in endlessly long lines to vote.

Since the Voting Rights Act was gutted in 2013, 1,688 polling places have been shuttered in states previously bound by the Act's preclearance requirement. Texas officials closed 750 polling places. Arizona and Georgia were almost as bad. Not surprisingly, these closures were mostly in communities of color.

In Texas, officials in the 50 counties that gained the most Black and Latinx residents between 2012 and 2018 closed 542 polling sites, compared to just 34 closures in the 50 counties that gained the fewest Black and Latinx residents. In Georgia's 2020 primary, 80 polling places were closed in Atlanta, home to Georgia's largest Black population — forcing 16,000 residents to use a single polling place.

And even if you get to a polling place after standing for three hours to cast your ballot, you may end up being turned away because of a restrictive voter ID law.
[...]
In Georgia, the state's restrictive "exact match" ID law — requiring a voter's ID to exactly match the name on their registration, down to any dots or dashes — allowed state officials to throw out 53,000 majority-Black voter registrations less than a month before the state's tight 2018 gubernatorial race. Stacey Abrams, who would have been the country's first Black woman governor, lost the election by just under 55,000 votes — after years of her rival Brian Kemp systematically suppressing the votes of people of color.

Meanwhile, in North Carolina, a court found that the state's voter ID law "target[ed] African Americans with almost surgical precision," and struck the law down in its entirety. Imagine all we could accomplish with all the time, money, and resources that go into prolonged legal battles against these discriminatory laws that should never have seen the light of day in the first place."

Again, it gets much more evil than the water issue. Remember how during the 2020 election Republicans kept saying only the (Republican-controlled) legislatures should be able to control the rules for voting and vote certification? Well, they are certainly following through on their threats, giving themselves even more power to suppress voters.

"Under the proposal, the Republican-controlled State Election Board would be able to replace struggling county election boards and install new management, with broad authority over elections and results.

State takeovers of local election offices could change the outcome of future elections, especially if they’re as hotly contested as last year’s presidential race between Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Donald Trump. County election boards decide on challenges to voters’ eligibility, polling place closures and certification of results.
[...]
The county at the top of the list for potential state intervention is Fulton County, the heavily Democratic population center of metro Atlanta that Republicans blame for their statewide losses.

Critics of the proposal say it would usurp authority from county election boards, often run by volunteers appointed by each political party or county commissions. The bill calls for one person appointed by the state to oversee a county’s election operations.
[...]
Both bills would allow the State Election Board to seek the removal of county election boards for poor performance. The measure that cleared the House goes further. It would remove the secretary of state as the chairperson of the State Election Board and replace him with an appointee of the General Assembly. That would give a majority of the board to the General Assembly, which already appoints two of its members."

Abrams' work to organize voters in Georgia for the 2020 election was massive and successful. Now, the next task for Georgia political organizers needs to be getting blue voters, especially "non-whites", armed. This voter suppression law is only the beginning of the tyranny and violence that will come from the Georgia government and crazed White Supremacists.

The Republican party openly incites and provides a safe haven for terrorism and has openly declared that overthrowing the US government is part of their political strategy to maintain power at all costs. Since none of the politicians who participated in the Capitol Coup have faced a single consequence for their actions, we can be certain they will try again and again until they are successful--afterall, they face no risk of punishment if they fail and the payoff if they succeed is massive, so why wouldn't they try again? And when the day comes when they succeed in overthrowing the rule of law, things won't look too pretty for all the Americans who will now have a target on their back.

Gun ownership among left-wing Americans is much lower than rightists in the US--meaning White Supremacists can easily slaughter us. For decades they have made clear their desire to do so; the "Storm" prophesized by the QAnon cult, where Trump would have given the signal to begin a massive Soviet-style purge of every liberal, is merely the latest manifestation of this. Quite troublingly, gun ownership among "black" Americans is much lower than even "white" liberals. (Remember this fact the next time you run into a rightist who pushes the stereotype that every "black" person is a murderous criminal, by the way).

56% of red voters have access to a gun, while only 25% of blue voters do. Source.

2013 estimates suggest 46% of "whites" have access to a gun, but only 21% of "blacks" and 17% of "Hispanics". 2017 estimates suggest 36% of "whites" own guns, 24% of "blacks", and 15% of "Hispanics".

To add another historic fact, Republican Governor of California Ronald Reagan and other right-wingers began to restrict gun ownership after groups such as the Black Panthers legally exercised their 2nd Amendment duty to bear arms in defiance of government tyranny.

Black Panthers on the steps of the Washington state capitol building to protest gun control laws, 1969. None were arrested for this protest as they were in full compliance with the law. The gun control law was passed and racist tyranny continued, however.

Open carrying of long guns is legal in Georgia without a permit. How long until Georgians start asserting their 2nd Amendment duty to protest tyrannical governments?

Apparently it is not prohibited to carry firearms greater than 150 feet from a polling place in Georgia during an election. The 150 foot distance from a polling place is the same distance within which handing out water is prohibited. Does anyone want to volunteer to hand out water precisely 151 feet away, while open carrying long guns (after double-checking the law to ensure legal compliance)?

Bonus points if you have signs quoting Jesus's commands to give food to the hungry and water to the thirsty or face eternal damnation in hell (see below).

***

Separately, following in Jesus's footsteps, does anyone volunteer to commit an act of civil disobedience by dressing up as Jesus and handing out water to citizens waiting in line to vote? If you are arrested, I imagine the Georgia legal system will understand that your duty to practice your religious beliefs supersedes any shameful legal code which attempts to Unconstitutionally prohibit free expression of religion. Afterall, Jesus tells us that handing out food to the hungry and water to the thirsty is a matter concerning the eternal fate of our souls.

Heck, even Governor Kemp would agree!

"Well, you know, my goal is for us to be a sanctuary state, if you will, for people of faith. I think this pandemic has shown us that, you know, people will overreach especially people in positions of power, and that's not good. I don't think in this republic that we have, or in the state of Georgia, and certainly, that really hasn't happened here but looking around other states it was concerning to me that we shouldn't have any governor or a future governor be able to stop religious services. That's embedded in our Constitution. That's a fundamental rock of this country..."

I am not from Georgia, but I would recommend anyone who is seriously interested in this to contact Reverend Tim McDonald, as he has heroically expressed his interest in following the teachings of Jesus and leading this movement:

"One influential Black pastor said he thinks the new law is unreasonable and that his church will use it to fire up voters.

“We will make a movement out of that,” said the Rev. Tim McDonald, senior pastor of First Iconium Baptist Church in Atlanta. “You know something is wrong when you can’t give grandma a bottle of water and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”

McDonald told CNN he is already planning to test the law with some civil disobedience. He said that at a future election his church will dare the police to arrest someone giving water to an elderly person waiting to vote."
https://abc17news.com/politics/national-politics/2021/03/26/its-now-illegal-in-georgia-to-give-food-and-water-to-voters-in-line/

For reference, here is what Jesus had to say about this law:

Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’

Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? When did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?’

And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’

Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, I was naked and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

And they too will reply, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’

Then the King will answer, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.’

And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” -Matthew 25:34-46

Remember this day - The point of no return

February 13, 2021. Today was the Republican party's last chance to change their course. Instead, they have not.

They have acquitted Trump for INCITEMENT OF AN INSURRECTION. An insurrection in which many members of the Republican party directly participated and organized. An insurrection which was the last effort in a coup attempt months in the making, which had near-unanimous aid and support of the Republican party. An insurrection where a police officer was murdered and members of Congress and the Vice President were within minutes of being murdered. Republicans have declared such things are now legal. (But only when Republicans do it, because you better believe a Republican administration would arrest and imprison any Democrat who organized an insurrection).

They have firmly announced to the world and the American people that bloody coup attempts and insurrection are now part of the Republican party strategy to hold on to power. The Republican party will attempt coups and organize insurrections in the future, as they have legalized and normalized this as a core part their party.

***

Here is a brief list of all the recent milestones where the Republican party could have changed their course, but instead decided to reaffirm their anti-American and lawless platform:

  • The Electoral College vote certifying that Trump had lost the election.
  • The insurrection on January 6th.
  • The coup vote which took place hours after the insurrection.
  • The second impeachment vote in the House.
  • The vote to remove Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from her House committee positions for advocating insurrection and the murder of Democrat politicians.
  • The vote over the Constitutionality of the second impeachment trial.
  • The second impeachment trial in the Senate.

At every one of these points, the Republican party had a chance to stop, reflect, say enough is enough, and choose a new path. Some individual members of the party did reflect and vote to uphold the law, but the vast majority of elected Republican politicians have chosen to defend Trump to the death and turn their party into a terrorist organization.

With the conclusion of the impeachment trial, there is no reason for any Republican of conscience who holds any amount of loyalty to America to remain in the party. Such individuals are now a powerless minority within the party who cannot change the course it is on. If such individuals remain in the party, they are complicit in the party's crimes by giving it a veil of legitimacy.

***

If the Biden administration does not arrest Trump and every single Republican member of Congress who participated in the coup, then the Democrat party will actively be assisting the Republican party in their future coup attempts. If the Biden administration does not arrest these individuals who committed the highest crime against the state, then the Democrat party will be legalizing INSURRECTION and BLOODY COUP ATTEMPTS.

As citizens, we must place maximum pressure on the Biden administration to uphold our laws and arrest the criminals responsible for the insurrection. They cannot be allowed to walk free and they certainly cannot be allowed to make laws for our nation.

As citizens, we must prepare ourselves for the next Republican coup attempt. Their next attempt will take into account all the lessons learned from Trump's unsuccessful attempt, and be much better organized and much more ruthless. QAnon cultists were preparing themselves for Trump to give the order to begin a massive Soviet-style purge of all left-wing citizens of our nation. White Supremacists have long fantasized about the "Day of the Rope", where they are able to murder all "non-whites" and "whites" who stand in their way. The Yugoslavian civil war and ethnic cleansings which took place during it show us that unspeakable barbarity can happen even in so-called "first world" countries within our lifetimes. We thought a coup couldn't happen here. It did. Republican politicians and far-right militias have been advocating for a full-on civil war. Do you still think it can't happen here?

***

There is no turning back now. The clock has begun counting down to the next disaster. The Republican party is openly insurrectionary and openly supports domestic terrorists. That is not hyperbole or empty rhetoric. We thought Trump was full of empty hyperbole, but this naivety allowed him and his party to nearly succeed in overthrowing our government.

We must arm ourselves, train, and prepare to defend ourselves and our communities from continued far-right terrorism. We need to begin now, because the far-right is already decades ahead of us. As long as the Republican party remains one of the major parties in the US, it will continue to incite and provide a safe haven for terrorism. As long as the Democrat party refuses to uphold our laws and refuses to punish terrorists, Americans are not safe.

The original American Civil War did not happen out of nowhere--it was preceded by decades of openly insurrectionary rhetoric and incitement of terrorism just like the Republican party is now doing. The original Civil War was states vs states with a clear frontline and uniforms. The next civil war will be like the Bosnian or Rwandan ethnic cleansings where barbarians went out to slaughter their own neighbors.

We cannot let that happen. We must prepare to stop them.

It seems like every lifetime we go through the same damn cycle.

Mississippi removes Confederate flag from state flag

With all the chaos surrounding the 2020 election, it was easy to miss one positive thing: Mississippi residents removed the Confederate flag from their state flag.

The new flag of Mississippi.

In June 2020, the Mississippi state legislature voted to remove the old state flag immediately and begin a contest to design a new flag. In the November 2020 elections, Mississippi state ballots included a question on whether or not to accept the flag above as the new state flag. It passed overwhelmingly with 73% of the vote.

Green counties voted in favor of the new flag.

"Gunn, who for years was the most prominent Republican leader to publicly advocate for changing the state flag, told stories on Monday of state lawmakers who had been against change this summer – up until just days before the Legislature voted – but who had changes of heart.

“It was their families,” Gunn said of what changed their minds. “It was knowing that history was going to record what they did, and they did not want their spouses and children and grandchildren to be disappointed. They wanted future generations of this state to be proud of what they did.”

“Now we turn the page on this new chapter in our state’s history,” Gunn continued. “It is blank. It has yet to be written. What will it say? What will the history of this new flag be? What will it stand for? That is going to be determined by you, the citizens of the state of Mississippi.

“… It can represent a place of hospitality, a place of goodwill toward all men, a place of sacrificial service to our fellow man, or it can not. It can represent a place where we love our neighbors as ourselves, or it can not … It can represent a place where in God we trust, or it can not. We will determine what is written … Yes, in God we trust, and may he bless the great state of Mississippi.”

Hosemann, who publicly advocated for a change in the flag after House leaders initiated the process this summer, also spoke at the ceremony on Monday.

“Over 900,000 Mississippians voted for this flag to represent the state of Mississippi,” Hosemann said. “It will provide a shade of history and community for our citizens. It will provide nourishment to the roots of our society. It will inspire children for hopefully generations to come, and it will give us a sense of place. We will learn together under this flag. We will work together under this flag, and we will worship together under this emblem.”"

https://mississippitoday.org/2021/01/11/its-a-great-day-mississippi-raises-new-state-flag-after-126-years/

***

The last referendum on a new state flag, in 2001, failed. However, the 2001 flag redesign was merely the old state flag with the Confederate flag removed. The 2020 flag started completely from scratch, representing a truly fresh start for the state.

The treasonous state flag of Mississippi (1894-2020).
The proposed new flag from 2001.

In 2015, after renewed controversy over the Confederate flag in the wake of White Supremacist Dylann Roof's mass murder in a South Carolina church, there were attempts to change Mississippi's flag, but they did not lead anywhere.

Now, 155 years after the end of the Civil War, Mississippi has finally symbolically rejoined America.

***

This leaves Georgia as the only state which continues to fly the flag of an enemy nation. Now that Georgia is increasingly turning blue, it is likely their traitorous flag will soon be replaced as well.

Georgia state flag.

National flag of the Confederacy (1861-1863).

Republican party leadership reaffirms calls for assassination and insurrection are part of their party rhetoric

Yep, you read that correctly.

Republicans convened to discuss the fate of two members of their party. Representative Liz Cheney, who unapologetically voted for Trump's second impeachment (she voted against his first impeachment, enabling him to get to this point, however), and Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who peddled brain-dead conspiracy theories and advocated for violent insurrection and the assassination of Democrat politicians before she was elected.

Democrats introduced a resolution to expel Greene from her committee positions, since, you know, she is not qualified to scrub toilets let alone be in government.

Republicans had their millionth chance to plan a lawful path going forward and remove her. Instead, they gave her a standing ovation. Yes, a literal standing ovation where they clapped in support of her.

She even has Trump's backing, solidifying her rising status in the Republican party.

"Marjorie Taylor Greene claims Trump's backing amid intra-GOP debate over her fitness to serve.
[...]
Trump has previously called Greene, 46, a “future Republican Star.” Many other Republicans have condemned Greene’s comments, but GOP House leaders welcomed her into their ranks when she entered Congress and have so far declined to discipline her.

Greene has become an instant lightning rod during her first few weeks in office. She enthusiastically backed Trump’s false claims about a stolen election, and promoted the “Stop the Steal” rallies that preceded the storming of the Capitol building on Jan. 6."
https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/30/marjorie-taylor-greene-trump-support-463996

***

Here are Greene's opinions which the Republican party just endorsed. She said these in 2018-2019 before she was elected. The ancient days of 2019, which can in no way possibly still represent her views, supposedly.

Also, we should not gloss over the fact that her statement below, made in February 2019, suggests the Capitol insurrection plot may have been in the works for a very long time.

"In a video posted to social media months before announcing her congressional candidacy, Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene called on supporters to "flood the Capitol Building" in a protest against "tyrannical" leaders, telling them that Democratic lawmakers "should fear us" and that "we should feel like we will" use violence "if we have to."

"All of us together, when we rise up, we can end all of this. We can end it," Greene said in the 90-minute rant, which was posted in February 2019 and unearthed on Sunday by Twitter user @zedster. "We can do it peacefully. We can. I hope we don't have to do it the other way. I hope not. But we should feel like we will if we have to. Because we are the American people."

Greene, an adherent of the QAnon fantasy movement whose internet posts about conspiracy theories had by that time already attracted a following, posted the video to recruit attendees for a Feb. 23, 2019, "Fund the Wall" march in Washington. At the time, the Southern Poverty Law Center described the event as Greene's "brainchild," citing national support from right-wing militia group American Defence Force. (It also featured members of Cowboys for Trump, including group leader Couy Griffin, who was recently arrested for his role in the Jan. 6 riots.)
[...]
Greene also emphasized the importance of getting inside the Capitol Building: "If we have a sea of people, if we shut down the streets, if we shut down everything. If we flood the Capitol Building. Go inside. These are public buildings. We own them. We own these buildings. Do you understand that? We own the buildings and we pay all the people that work in the buildings.""

"Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Liked Posts Calling For Killing Democratic Politicians: Reports.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) repeatedly supported disturbing conspiracy theories and liked social media posts that suggested executing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and FBI agents, among others, according to several media reports published Tuesday.

Media Matters for America, a progressive watchdog group, first reported that Greene, a far-right firebrand who was recently elected to Congress, had endorsed fringe conspiracy theories on Facebook in 2018 that suggested former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton murdered a child during a satanic ritual.

CNN’s KFile later found other troubling activity on Greene’s personal Facebook page after reviewing hundreds of her posts and comments. In January 2019, Greene liked a comment that said it would be “quicker” to remove Pelosi from office with a “bullet to the head.” On another post from April 2018, a commenter asked her if “H & O” — referring to former President Barack Obama and Clinton — should be hanged.

“Stage is being set,” Greene replied, according to the archives obtained by CNN. “Players are being put in place. We must be patient. This must be done perfectly or liberal judges would let them off.”

Greene has embraced the conspiracy theory woven by QAnon, joining an unhinged cult that believes Democrats, the media elite and powerful people in Hollywood are engaged in a child trafficking ring, imprisoning children in dungeons run by Satan worshipers."

While her bio does not specify what her duties were as the organization’s national director, the group’s page still lists her as one of just nine moderators.

Under the watch of Greene and that small group, the page has served as a platform for some of the right’s darkest notions. A 2018 post shared on the page contained an image of a noose with the superimposed words “If you want to make America great again, we will have to make evil people fear punishment again.” The poster added, “Start with Hillary and obama!” (Greene endorsed hanging Obama and Hillary Clinton on her own Facebook page that year.)
[...]
Another post from 2018 on the Family America Project page showed a Punisher skull with blood-red eyes: “God Will Judge Our Enemies. We’ll Arrange the Meeting.”

Other posts make clear that the group’s members considered their political opponents to be enemies of the nation and worthy targets of violence. A post with an American flag stated, “I will defend my country against all enemies foreign and domestic, including liberal Democrats.” Another said that “Some people need a caress…(Democrats) On the head with a hammer….Democrats The Evil Amongst US Seeking to Destroy And To Kill.” A 2019 message depicted the murderous psychopath from the movie Sling Blade holding a glinting weapon and saying, “I reckon I’ve had enough of this Democrat shit. How about you?”
[...]
The page also provided a home to racism and anti-Muslim bigotry. One post featured photos of presidents and their pets—and one of Trump with Michelle Obama: “These heartwarming images offer a rare look at recent US Presidents with the White House dog.” When Rep. Ilhan Omar, then Minnesota state representative, looked on track to be among the first Muslim women elected to Congress, a video posted on the page decried the victory, and a commenter noted, “We don’t want Muslims in our government. Our parents and grandparents didn’t fight for this. We might have to!”

Earlier on Wednesday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said the newly elected congresswoman from Georgia will not face any consequences from within her own party for her history of bigoted remarks, including apparent support for executing prominent elected Democrats and Islamophobic attacks against other members of the House.

He said "past comments from and endorsed by Marjorie Taylor Greene on school shootings, political violence, and antisemitic conspiracy theories do not represent the values or beliefs of the House Republican Conference,” but his party has not introduced any punitive measures."

[Yes her comments do represent the beliefs of the Republican party. MCCARTHY AND OVER 200 REPUBLICANS ACCEPTED BLOODY COUP ATTEMPTS AS PART OF THEIR PARTY STRATEGY. MCCARTHY AND 146 OTHER REPUBLICANS VOTED FOR A COUP AFTER A VIOLENT INSURRECTION THAT THEY PLANNED AND INCITED. Now they gave a standing ovation to a terrorist who was involved with the planners of the insurrection.

Lock them up.]

"He also drew false equivalence between Ms Greene’s behaviour – for which she has never publicly apologised – and the past controversial comments and actions of various Democratic House members.
[...]
The full House will vote on Thursday on a resolution to strip Ms Greene of her seats on both the House Education and Labour Committee and the House Budget Committee, putting Republicans on record whether they support Ms Green’s place within the party."

"Republicans Just Said They Won’t Punish QAnon Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene
But Rep. Liz Cheney easily survived a challenge to her conference chairmanship after voting to impeach President Trump.
[...]
Now, every Republican member will be forced to go on record in a Thursday floor vote on whether they think Greene should retain her committee assignments. And the 145-61 secret ballot vote for Cheney suggests that McCarthy might have had the political space to remove Greene after all, while showing that there is indeed room for Trump-critical members in the modern GOP, even if members aren’t willing to go to war with their fringier colleagues.
[...]
Cheney was defiant as she addressed the conference and said she wouldn’t apologize for her vote, according to two sources familiar with her remarks. McCarthy and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise both defended her, saying that she should remain in leadership. But two sources said that McCarthy initially spent more time arguing for why Greene shouldn’t be removed from committee than defending his fellow member of leadership, and a source said Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger slammed him for it. McCarthy closed the lengthy meeting with a more impassioned defense of Cheney."

Cheney was not removed from her leadership position, but she fell in line to support her party's new platform of treason:

"Cheney holds on to House GOP leadership position amid furor over impeachment vote.

Liz Cheney, the third-highest-ranking Republican in the House, refused to apologize for voting to impeach former President Donald Trump.
[...]
hree sources said the vote among Republican House members was 145-61.
[...]
Cheney, a frequent critic of Trump and his rhetoric, said at the time: "There has never been a greater betrayal by a president of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution. I will vote to impeach the president."

Cheney spoke briefly to reporters after she held on to her title.

"We really did have a terrific vote tonight, a terrific time this evening, laying out what we are going to do going forward, as well as making clear that we're not going to be divided and that we're not going to be in a situation where people can pick off any member of leadership," she said.

"It was a very resounding acknowledgment that we need to go forward together and that we need to go forward in a way that helps us beat back the really dangerous and negative Democrat policies," Cheney said."

With this vote, the Democrat party finally uses high energy rhetoric, 5 years too late:

"McCarthy (Q-CA) Fails to Lead, Hands Keys to Party to Greene
February 3, 2021 Press Release

Sen. John Thune: House Republicans Must Decide if They Want to Be the Party of QAnon

After several conversations and literally running away from reporters, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Q-CA) made clear that he is refusing to take action against conspiracy theorist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. As a result, the House will continue with a vote to strip Greene of her seat on the esteemed House Committee on Education & Labor and House Committee on Budget. McCarthy’s failure to lead his party effectively hands the keys over to Greene – an anti-Semite, QAnon adherent and 9/11 Truther.
[...]
As No 2. Senate Republican John Thune warned Tuesday, McCarthy has chosen to make House Republicans “the party of conspiracy theories and QAnon” and Rep. Greene is in the driver’s seat."
https://www.speaker.gov/newsroom/2321-0

Stunningly, a few days ago McConnell had called Greene a "cancer" on the Republican party. However, it's too late for "serious" Republicans like McConnell--they have already lost control of their party after allowing it to grow into a lawless monster.

"Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Monday blasted Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s embrace of “loony lies and conspiracy theories” as a “cancer for the Republican Party.”

“Somebody who’s suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged, and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr.’s airplane is not living in reality,” McConnell said in a statement first shared with The Hill. “This has nothing to do with the challenges facing American families or the robust debates on substance that can strengthen our party.”

McConnell didn't mention Greene by name in his three-sentence statement, but his rare, scathing remarks about a freshman GOP lawmaker from the other chamber suggests he recognizes the potential damage her violent rhetoric and bizarre conspiracy theories could inflict on congressional Republicans as they try to take back both the House and Senate in next year’s midterms.

Greene responded on Twitter, writing that "the real cancer for the Republican Party is weak Republicans who only know how to lose gracefully.""

In summary, the Republican party will continue to operate outside of the law, will attempt future coups, and will concoct future assassination plots against opposing politicians.

Already Republicans in the House overwhelmingly voted to reject impeachment and accept bloody coup attempts as part of their official strategy:
https://authenticamericandream.blogspot.com/2021/01/trumps-second-impeachment-vote.html

If the Biden administration doesn't place every single last one of these treasonous criminals in prison, the Democrat party will be aiding and abetting their crimes and responsible for their future coup attempts. Republicans have already announced their intention to continue on their lawless and anti-American path. If the Democrat party continues to not take Republicans seriously after they planned an insurrection and were within minutes of being murdered, there is not much hope for this country.

They didn't take Trump seriously in 2016, allowing him to get elected. They didn't take President Trump seriously, allowing him and his party to plan a coup in public view for months, culminating in a bloody insurrection where politicians were within minutes of being murdered.

Democrats won't get a third chance and need to take action against these criminals. The fate of our nation is in their hands and if they fail to do their duty to hold them accountable with a Crimes Commission, they will have betrayed us just as severely as the Republican party.

Pelosi's press release above calling McCarthy part of the QAnon party and declaring Republicans have given leadership of their party to people like Greene shows Democrat leadership understands the full gravity of the situation. If Democrats do not act against all the criminals in the new Republican party, they have zero excuses. They will be complicit and actively helping them with their goals. There will be no other explanation for their refusal to act.

Update:

Greene has now been removed from her committee positions. Which is good news, but it is very important to note that not a single politician has been punished for their role in the incitement of the insurrection, for their role in giving aid and comfort to terrorists and enemies of the United States, or for their act of sedition by voting to throw out the results of the election. Greene was punished for her deranged conspiracy theories and calls to murder Democrat politicians back in 2018-2019, not for her role in giving aid and comfort to insurrectionists or her act of sedition by voting to throw out the results of the election.

Moreover, Greene is still in Congress and still has the power to make laws for our nation. Removing her from her committee positions isn't even a "baby step" forward, it's like tilting ourselves in the correct position before taking an actual step. She, along with all the politicians who are Constitutionally ineligible to be in Congress due to their role in supporting an insurrection, must be removed from Congress immediately, arrested, and put on a real criminal trial (not a pointless impeachment trial), and locked up in federal prison for the committing the highest crimes possible against the nation.

In retaliation for removing Greene, Republicans will remove every Democrat they possibly can from their committees if Republicans ever regain a majority in the House. So why should the Democrat party go easy on their colleagues who just staged a bloody coup attempt where they were almost murdered?

The vote was 230-199 to remove Greene from her committee assignments. 1 Democrat and 1 Republican didn't vote. Other than that, every single Democrat voted to remove her from her committees. Only 11 Republicans voted to remove her:

Adam Kinzinger (Ill.)
Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.)
Nicole Malliotakis (N.Y.)
John Katko (N.Y.)
Chris Jacobs (N.Y)
Carlos Gimenez (Fla.)
Young Kim (Calif.)
Maria Elvira Salazar (Fla.)
Chris Smith (N.J.)
Fred Upton (Mich.)
Mario Díaz-Balart (Fla.)

Recall that a total of 61 Republicans had just voted to remove Liz Cheney from her leadership positions for voting for Trump's second impeachment.

Let me spell it out to make it absolutely clear.

200 Republicans think that Greene advocating for Democrat politicians to be murdered is ok. Only 11 think it is wrong and worthy of being removed from leadership positions. 61 thought Cheney supporting impeachment was wrong and worthy of being removed from leadership positions.

95% of Republicans in the House of Representatives think calling for Democrat politicians to be murdered is admirable rhetoric. A month after there was a bloody insurrection where Democrat politicians came within literal minutes of being murdered. Republicans can't make excuses to say "it's just hyperbole and nothing actually serious." The exact things Greene advocated for--insurrection and murdering Democrat politicians--nearly happened for real.

And the party stands by her and her rhetoric.

Removing unhinged politicians from committee positions has been done before--with overwhelming support of the Republican party! So the fact that they are now defending Greene like this is a very deliberate move showing us what their party has become.

In January 2019, Republicans in the House removed Steve King for his comments supporting White Supremacy. Representative McCarthy was even supportive of removing King! Now, McCarthy and the Republican party do not view any of their members' conduct beyond the pale.

When Republicans decided to remove King from his positions, it was shortly after Democrats had just taken back control of Congress, so Republicans were probably fearing Democrats would use the full force of their power against them to put a halt to their corruption. But, then, Democrat leadership in the House decided to just give Republicans a pass for some reason.

January 14, 2019:

"These are not the first time we have heard these comments," McCarthy said. "That is not the party of Lincoln and it is definitely not America. All people are created equal in America and we want to take a very strong stance about that."
[...]
The move came after days of bipartisan criticism of King for suggesting in an interview with the New York Times on Thursday that white nationalism and white supremacism were not offensive terms.

"White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?" King asked. "Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?"
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/steve-king-stripped-of-house-committee-assignments-over-white-supremacy-comments/

Former Representative Justin Amash, the only (former) Republican to have enough principle to resign his party rather than remain complicit, expressed his disbelief at Republicans' response to Greene:
"I was once stripped of a committee assignment for voting differently from Paul Ryan on a budget resolution."
https://twitter.com/justinamash/status/1354945529092988932

For years Greene had been supporting insurrection and assassination. Yet in 2021 that is not reason enough for Republicans to remove her from her committee positions.

The Republican party has fundamentally changed. It is no hyperbole--the party has accepted violent coups as part of their political strategy and fully embraces calls for murdering their opponents as part of their party rhetoric. They gave Greene a literal standing ovation in support of her and her rhetoric.

Our "leaders" need to stop underestimating them and stop giving a terrorist party a pass. These people need to be held accountable for their crimes. If a regular person did what Greene did, they would be in prison.

Future coup attempts aside, since Republicans do not hold punches and leverage every opportunity they have to wield power, it is likely they will remove every Democrat they possibly can from their committees if Republicans ever regain a majority in the House. Democrats and Republicans alike already wanted to do this to Ilhan Omar a few years ago, when she was the only member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee who dared state the obvious fact that members of Congress should not have divided loyalties to apartheid nations. There can be little doubt Republicans will at least attempt to remove AOC, Pelosi, and everyone else who catches their ire, in retaliation for removing Greene.

They've already established that this is how they operate. In February 2020, after Trump's first impeachment had ended, Republicans suggested impeaching Biden to take revenge if he were elected. On January 13, 2021, the day of Trump's second impeachment, Greene announced she would file retaliatory articles of impeachment against Biden on January 21st, immediately after he became President. (Yep, the same Greene.)

We've already seen how Mitch McConnell was willing to thrust our nation into a Constitutional Crisis for 11 months in order to prevent Obama from appointing federal judges. We've already seen how when Republicans are in power, they will literally carry out a self-coup in order to disregard the Constitution to hold on to power at all costs (e.g. see the results of Trump's first impeachment trial where they announced under no circumstances would they uphold their oath to be impartial jurors and would acquit Trump no matter the evidence).

Biden and the Democrat party need to clean up all the Republican corruption in our government now that they have this chance. Republicans are going to be even more ruthless if they ever take back power. If Democrats allow these criminals to remain in Congress and make no attempts to put them in prison for their crimes, the Democrat party is just asking for America to be destroyed in the near future.

In shithole nations like Russia, opposition politicians and supporters are frequently murdered. That very thing almost happened in the United States a month ago. The QAnon cult that Representative Greene and hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of right-wingers support literally prophesized about an imminent Soviet-style mass purge of all left-leaning politicians, journalists, and activists. They thought the insurrection would be the beginning of this.

The Democrat party needs to start taking things more seriously. Rightists are treating the "culture wars" as a genuine war and actual matter of life and death. For the first time since the Civil War we just had an attempt to overthrow the government with nearly the full support of one of the major political parties.

With the Republican party's stance to support Greene at all costs, they have demonstrated they are still the party of Trumpism and insurrection, and are not going to hide it.
